ABOUT CSS

The Commerce Students Society is the official faculty-based student club which serves to bridge the gaps between the student body, commercial industry and the academic framework of the University of Melbourne.

Our aim is to provide students with an environment to socialise among peers and potential employers, to learn about and be exposed to industries interested in Commerce graduates, and to voice communications to the Faculty and Dean. Our purpose is to offer events and opportunities conducive to networking, employment and of equal importance, fun. The CSS fosters happy, productive, aware students, who realise their potential and grasp responsibility.

Club Aims:

1 To promote active communication and relationships between the Members and the staff of the Faculty of Business and Economics.

2 To facilitate the interaction of Members with employers and industry relevant to the interests of Members.

3 To provide Members with an environment in which to socialise and participate in a healthy and enjoyable University lifestyle.

EVENTS

Commerce Ball:

Commerce Ball. The premier event of the CSS and one of the most prestigious student society balls at UniMelb. With world-class entertainment (Shannon Noll in 2016), a list of almost 2000 students from all across Melbourne and a high-class venue, the night is always guaranteed to be a success.

Bubble Soccer:

Our annual CSS Bubble Soccer event sees 16 teams dressing up to face off in the most fiery of arenas. Held on South Lawn with a sizzling barbecue nearby, the event often attracts a sizeable crowd to watch our fabulous teams face off. With the winner of the Bubble Soccer receiving a reserved table to our Commerce Ball and the best dressed receiving tickets to our Semester 1 End of Exams Party, the competition is always fierce.

Corporate Cocktails:

One of our two key networking evenings of the year. A night of opportunities to engage & network with a range of firms, from the big four to smaller, boutique organisations. Supplied with an array of refreshing alcoholic drinks and finger food, this formal evening with a relaxed atmosphere is not one to be missed.
